Abby & Akamba Arts - abbyceramics.com akambaarts.com
We are two artists who create with our hands. Through clay, drawings, prints, and other expressions born from our shared place of joy and care, we bring our visions to life. We find great happiness when people engage with our work and we hope that what we create can spark joy or at least encourage someone to pause and take a closer look.

LWB Pottery - LWB Pottery
As a ceramic artist, I work mostly in Stoneware clay, which I love for its versatility and range in color and texture. With this medium, I utilize a variety of techniques, such as wheel-throwing, hand-building, painting and sgraffito. However, I absolutely love falling back on my experience as a Pastry Chef, working with fondant and sugar paste, to create highly-detailed wedding cakes. With this, I create nature-inspired sculptural pieces that capture brief moments in time.

Frog Guild- www.frogguild.square.site
Embracing the quaint and whimsical, Frog Guild dives deep into the pond to answer one of life's essential questions: what are frogs? And: what are we all, if not frogs? A fascination that began with his grandmother's home decor cycles around and implores you to do the same. For the love of frogs, please, bring them into your home.

All work is handmade or designed by local artisan Shiloh, and includes illustrations of frogs and other creatures, wheel thrown pottery, cyanotype prints, and paper craft goods.

JoAnne Hunot
My assemblage art work is 100% constructed from up-cycled vintage items. These cultural cast-offs are interesting artifacts, each with its own history which adds to the narrative of my work. I love giving “new life” to old objects. I often have to de-construct, repair, or patina items to get just the right look and feel. It takes great thought and insight to be able to combine disparate components to express an emotion or tell a story.

As an artist born in Santiago, Chile -- a country renowned for its copper production -- it felt only natural for me to embrace this as my medium. My work is deeply  inspired by nature with a harmonious blend of copper, aluminum, steel, and wood, adding depth and contrast. Each creation is a reflection of my connection to nature and my journey from Chile to California, where the vibrant landscape continues to inspire and shape my art.

Natalie Obermaier - www.natalieobermaier.com
Coalescing is a series of collages made in response to the incessant onslaught of mass media and pressures of mainstream beauty standards found within. Women’s fashion magazines in particular stand at a crossroads of cult, consumerism and the unattainable image. By re-appropriating and deconstructing those glossy pages something truer, hand-made and authentic can be expressed. The resulting juxtapositions seek to remind one of the visual and psychological manipulations abound in advertising while also creating a new dialogue in response. Coalescing manipulates the manipulated as both rebuttal to the aesthetic pressures of advertising and as a reclamation of the human image to speak a deeper truth by reflecting a more personable and representative spirit of self.

VCC is partnering with the Buenaventura Art Association. We will be displaying images created with the theme of "Impressions in Motion". We have been told we can have a 10x20 booth adjacent to BAA. We will hold a competition for artists and photographers showcasing the theme above.

VCC has a rich history that dates back 85 years, possibly even longer. Our members are primarily amateurs, though many of them could be professional photographers - they happened to chose another career. Over the years, at the County Fair our members have won Best of Category awards, as well as Best of Show awards more than a handful of times.

Fredo Dargenton -
I am an artist deeply drawn to the surreal—the dreamlike, the uncanny, the strange beauty that lies just beneath the surface of the ordinary.

Sketching and painting have always been part of my life, a quiet yet persistent companion. Over the years, they’ve evolved from a personal outlet to a more intentional pursuit. Reconnecting with the raw, intuitive nature of creating… reminding me that art does not always have to make sense it only needs to feel true.

I worked for 45 years as a make-up artist in the TV and film industry until retirement afforded me the freedom to express myself through painting, utilizing the rugged California coast as inspiration.  I am drawn to the old, the historical, and the weathered. I try to highlight the aging details of a ship, pier, or building, while also trying to evoking the otherworldly feel of walking through fog, tasting sea spray, or witnessing a private coastal sunset.  You may also find my work displayed at OVA Arts Gallery in downtown Ojai.  Commissions are welcome.

I'm a lifelong artist, with 14-plus years in the Pacific Northwest  where I established unconscious pottery and am in many Northwest collections. In current pursuits in my new home, Ventura, I am a painter, sculpture and writer. For many years a craftsperson, I have developed my sense of design, balance, quality and integrity. These current paintings convey the unconscious creative process with the artist's intention.

Emily Schoen Art - www.schoencreations.com/
I’m a digital artist drawn to the beauty of animals, nature, and influences of fantasy elements. I’m really into rich colors, layered textures and a painterly style that gives my work a traditional hand painted feel. Once you have a print in your hand, it’s hard to tell that these were painted digitally. There’s always a touch of mystical vibes in what I create. My art invites nature and animal lovers into a world where fantasy meets reality, where there is a sense of magic woven throughout.

I have been drawing architecture and the things around me for most of my life. Taking inspiration from our beach town, I have been painting in acrylics since 2010, but it was during the pandemic where I really focused on creating art. As leader of Plein Air Ventura County, I have been painting on location each week. This helps me practice painting quickly, see more color in the landscape, and be in the moment. Painting with friends makes it fun.

Mary Zangerle and Carol Morrissette
Mary Zangerle - Over the years I took a few art classes while raising my children and having a career.  After I retired in 2017, I had more time to enroll in online art classes and workshops as well as classes from local artists.  When the pandemic hit, I found I had a lot of time to devote to online classes, watercolor painting and ordering art supplies from Amazon! Watercolor painting became my passion and the techniques I had been studying finally started to click.  My painting, Karma and Napenthe, won 3rd place in the Professional Watercolor Category at the Ventura County Fair last year (2024).

I enjoy getting outside with other artists for painting events around Ventura and Los Angeles County. My work currently leans toward realism and details and I enjoy painting buildings. I am inspired to paint as a way to remember the beautiful scenery and places I have visited in California and other western states.

Carol Morrissette - I’ve been enjoying painting watercolor for 10 years or more. I love the exciting feel and look of watercolor. It’s intriguing and challenging, but above all, tremendously exciting when you get what you want!
I am a mother of 5, and now enjoying my first grandchild with hope of more to come.
My painting is my private joy. When I’m not painting, I’m thinking of painting, and when I’m busy with other things in life, I’m planning when I can get back to my paint and brushes.
I am especially grateful to be involved with Plein Air Ventura County because it gives me the opportunity to be outdoors with like- minded artists, all sharing our passion.
I heard a saying once and it has stuck with me ever since.  So if you’re thinking about painting, or have been away from it for too long it’s time. “There are 7days in a week and Someday just isn’t one of them.”
