Children's Mural Project with renowned local muralist MB Hanrahan!
MB Hanrahan's murals are found all over Southern California, but are especially ubiquitous in her hometown of Ventura. Her use of bold colors and images make them beloved visual additions to walls and even water tanks! Many Ventura Unified schools have MB's art and she has included students in the process. We are fortunate to have MB participating in ArtWalk this year with an original mural project which will need many young helpers! Come visit her in the Kids Zone of Mission Park. Meet Stanlee of the Sea!
Artist: Jen Swain - http://www.swainsdesigns.com Stanlee is a 9-foot octopus made out of an umbrella, wire, tomato cages, paper mache, paint, and lots of time. He was a labor of love for a show in Glendale and then made an amazing appearance as a honored guest at LA Comic Con. He has appeared in window displays in Glendale storefront pilot program for Art On Orange. He was also in a display for an Art Show for Pasadena Art Walk and was in a GLOW room. We are hoping he will make a few more appearances before he is decommissioned, wear and tear permitting. Look for lots of bubbles from a Bubble Volcano! Jen & freinds will also be doing a children's art project. Trisha's Treasured Tales - Storytime
Trisha Simmons, an accomplished actress who has appeared in many television series and movies, began coaching young performers over 35 years ago, many of whom have gone on to star on screen and stages around the world, and some of whom you will hear on the audio version of her books. She has been a motivational coach and speaker for universities and corporations across the Nation. She was blessed to be brought up in a household of strong, funny, wise women, four generations at one point, who would pass along their worldly advice, invited or not! She passes this wisdom along to you in these funny, touching stories, as she has to the thousands of inspired minds she's had the privilege of teaching and learning from these many years. "A Dolphin Lost A Daughter Found..." is the first published book (of 25 waiting to go) in the "Trisha's Treasured Tales" series! Trisha will be reading 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily to young ArtWalk participants in the children's area. |
