From Oaxaca To Ventura / De Oaxaca A Ventura
For 2016, ArtWalk Ventura is proud to continue the exhibition of accomplished international artists. This year, over 30 visiting artists from the Mexican state of Oaxaca will arrive in Ventura. The artists are here to not only show their work, but also to actively contribute to the Ventura arts community.
Leading our visitors is this year's Global Artist of Distinction is Rolando Sigüenza, whose work will be shown at Vita Art Center during ArtWalk Ventura. He will also be working on a collaborative mural project on the Westside with our 2016 Artist of Distinction MB Hanrahan and Uriel Leon, a Mayor's Arts Award Recipient.
Each of the additional 20-plus artists will be on exhibit at Bell Arts Factory for ArtWalk. Each of the artists have been selected by Arte De Oaxaca Galleria, bringing with them a powerful portfolio of work. The artists have already begun arriving to Ventura. Expect a series of welcoming events beginning on September 25, 2016.
This partnership between the Oaxaca and Ventura arts communities has only been possible through collaboration with the Consuldado Mexicano, ArtWalk Ventura, the City of Ventura, Arte De Oaxaca, Vita Art Center, and Bell Arts Factory, as well as numerous arts leaders and supporters, both Venturan and Oaxaqueno.
We have compiled a list of all visiting artists below to serve as an introduction to their work. Please click through each of there names to view their story. We also have a downloadable PDF (in Spanish only at this time) available shortly.
