About the Exhibition For ArtWalk Ventura:
“An Amazing Amalgamation of Alternative Creative Energy…”
The historic 1903 brick building located at the corner Main Street and Ventura Avenue houses the Rosel Weedn Art Studio and Galley, who is once again on the ArtWalk Ventura tour. In the parking lot west of the building, and inside the art studio and show space, Rosel and friends are presenting a varied and rich display of work representing both traditional art objects on display and live performances by various artists and musicians.
They've created an environment for ArtWalk viewers to either witness the magic or partake in its spontaneous creation – a spinning web of intersecting creative concepts that is both structured and yet still alive with the potential for the unexpected. See an array of works, from the conceptual to the figurative, including internationally renown artist and inventor Gregg Fleischman’s interactive creations to life-sized body casts by Elizabeth Mallory of Oakland.
The space also is presenting local artist Michael Zelcer's wildly colorful up-cycled glass creations. And from Santa Barbara, Mara Tucker presents her curious conundrums - “SHELTER IN PLACE: runrunrun” along with “MATTER/anti-matter…..” And direct from Saticoy, look for The sTeVe SHOW, which takes place in a drivable mobile performance stage built by sTeVe knauff and Rosel Weedn. The stage is a 24-foot-long RV with the appearance of a classic 1983 Zenith Console TV set entitled: TMSL PERFORMANCE CLASS MODEL 2016, AKA, “The Mighty Zenith”, AKA "The BIG TV".
As seen at various 5x5x5 performances, the sTeVe SHOW is back in town from a highly successful sojourn to the High Plains of the Great Nevada Desert, also known as Black Rock City that was a ‘small’ journey for a very large TV, but a GIANT leap for Television. In addition to the Mighty Zenith, a new sTeVe stage for very short performances as seen at a 5x5x5 Performance last May at the Namba Dance Studio entitled STRIPPED - a musical mashup of live ‘television’ and magical movements.
Starting off the day will be the equally amazing Lynn Oken and kids… maybe little kids or not so little. And the mysterious phenomena - The Ventuckians, MAY or might not roll thru as well, one never knows for sure...
The stage will also feature conceptual artist presentations with a VERY special guest appearance by the Amazing John White and Friends. Along with musical performances by some notable west side bands like the eclectic DEW WATS RT, their moniker for a collaborative and creative multi-level conglomeration of experimental folk music, a well-known West Side band is excited by the idea but remains a MYSTERY BAND of note.
