Bhagvati Khalsa was born to parents who adopted the Sikh faith. Her youth was spent at a boarding school in India, in the foothills of the Himalayas. She returned to the US for high school followed by university where she received a BFA in Fashion Design from the Academy of Art University. When returning to the States Khalsa struggled to find her voice in the gap between eastern and western thought, and the idea of the individual vs the collective mindset. She uses her work as a journey of process, to gain insight into the inner landscape of her being. Her aesthetic is modern and organized influenced by her background in print and fashion design. Her process utilizes repetition, to organize and analyze the subject matter. She is fascinated with patterns, be they visual, behavioral or cerebral and tries to break and reconfigure them giving birth to new perspectives. She now resides in Ventura. She is currently working in both Ceramics and Oil Painting. She has shown her work in Group shows in New York and a solo shows Denver, Colorado. About Pacific Wonderland Inc
