Description:
The Art of Christine Beirne
Christine Beirne is a multi-media artist who paints in oil and sculpts in metal and stone. She has even been known to cover herself with paint in a performance piece. Her study of music, piano, percussion and composition provides the subtext that runs through all her art from her percussive brushstrokes to the fugal forms in her sculpture. Beirne received her Bachelors in Art from California State University Channel Islands in 2004. She’s had solo exhibitions at the Buenaventura Gallery, Ventura Visitor’s Bureau, Café Bariloche, Fox Fine Jewelry, Café Zach, Palemero and Café Valentino. American Artist Magazine selected her painting to promote the Focus on the Masters Studio Artists Tour in the May 2007 issue. Selected group exhibitions include "Shorelines National Competition" Rockport Center for the Arts, Rockport Texas; the Ventura Music Festival’s Painted Violin Competition; Herzog Winery; Libbey Bowl at the Ojai Valley Museum; City of Ventura’s Banner Competition; Tradition and Technology at SCIAC; The 21st Annual Open Competition at Buenaventura Gallery; and Three Women: Emerging Paths in Ventura. Christine was Executive Director for the Buenaventura Art Association for three years and currently spends her time painting on location and at her studio in Ojai. She was accepted as an Ojai Studio Artist in 2010 and will be a part of the tour in October. She was an Artist-In-Residence at Studio Channel Islands Art Center in Camarillo. Christine is a member of the Buenaventura Art Association, the Santa Barbara Art Association and is a founding member of the Ventura Plein Air Invitational. In 2016, she became a Public Art Commissioner for the City of Ojai. |
