Our "Havana To Ventura" Mural Project Makes The Front Page Of The Ventura County Star

One of the many highlights of ArtWalk Ventura 2015 is the street mural collaboration between MB Hanrahan and Cuban artist Pedro Pulido.  Breaking ground this week, the project located at 50. W. Main Street has already seen the several local artists as well as children and teen's from Vita Art Center's Summer Art Program come by to lend a hand. 

All the action caught the attention of the Ventura County Star, who came by to take photos of the work in progress for an article in the paper.  The front page feature ran today and includes an online slide show.  The article, written by Claudia Boyd Barret features a quote from our own Patti Channer, who has been instrumental in organizing the project.

"This is a first, this is history in the making... We’ve had 51 years of embargo and shutdown of Cuba. We have been living in the past, now we’re going into the future.”

Pedro Pulido, MB's Cuban counterpart is also quoted, saying "I hope it brings our two communities together, to get to know each other... Human beings, no matter where they live, no matter their culture, no matter their beliefs, should get to know each other. Man shouldn’t be a stranger to man.”
